everything you need for a memorable and exciting summer.

Here are some of the benefits of InterExchange:

Experience & Service
InterExchange has been bringing young adults like you to the USA for more than 40 years. We work hard to find quality placements at the country’s best camps and to ease the visa process for those returning to camp jobs year after year. Each year, we visit camps to get a sense of their individual philosophy and culture. Throughout your stay in the USA, InterExchange Camp USA will always be available to help you, 24 hours a day.
Affordability
As a non-profit organization, InterExchange keeps fees as low as possibile for all of our participants. Our goal is to help as many international participants as possible have the opportunity to work at summer camps in the USA.
Competitive Stipends & Benefits
Summer camp jobs are demanding, but you’ll be rewarded for your hard work. As an InterExchange participant, you are guaranteed a stipend for your hard work at camp. You’ll also receive free housing and meals for the entire duration of your placement. As a Direct Placement participant you will arrange your stipend directly with the camp.
In addition, if you are participating in our Camp Staff Placement program, InterExchange will provide an airfare supplement to New York, and will assist you with travel arrangements to your camp. We also provide medical insurance and a certificate of completion.
A Truly American Experience
Summer camp is an American tradition, and there are few better ways to experience the warm and friendly American spirit than spending time at camp. You’ll have the chance to meet and make friends with Americans of all ages, and be able to teach them about your culture. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to travel for up to a month after you finish working at camp, so you can experience even more of the USA.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Placement in Camp USA takes place in March and April. As soon as we have found a suitable camp for you we will send you full details. When you have accepted the placement offer we will contact InterExchange so they can print the documents you will need for your visa.
You will have to apply for a J-1 visa at the US Embassy in London or the US consulate in Belfast in a face-to-face interview. We will send you the forms you will need (a DS-219 and SEVIS receipt) and full instructions on how to book your appointment.
We will also send you details of your orientation in New York so that you can make your travel arrangements. You will be accommodated in a hostel for one night. The orientation takes place the following morning and then you are sent on your way to your camp!
